Privacy
We don't store your data. Here's how that works.
Most privacy policies explain what a company does with your data. This one mostly explains why we don't have any.

The short version
There is no account to create and no database behind this product. Your baby’s information — every feed, nap, diaper, symptom, note and journal entry — is stored on your own device and never sent to us. We could not show it to you on another phone even if you asked, because we do not have it.
When you buy the product, Stripe processes the payment and keeps the record of it, as the payment processor is required to. We hold a cryptographic signing key and nothing else about you.
What stays on your device
All of this is written to your browser’s local storage (IndexedDB), on your phone or computer:
- Your baby’s profile, due date and date of birth
- Feeding records — breastfeeding and side, bottles, formula, expressed milk, pumping
- Sleep, diaper and growth records
- Health notes, symptoms you enter, medications and doctor notes
- Postpartum recovery notes and maternal wellbeing entries
- Mental-health check-ins
- Private journal entries and personal notes
- Roadmap progress, tasks, support requests, visitor plans and preferences
None of it is uploaded. Not when you come back online after using the app offline, not when you buy, not when something goes wrong.
What we actually hold
- No user records. No account, no profile, no email address on our side, no password — there is nothing to log into.
- A signing key used to issue the proof-of-purchase token that unlocks the product on your device. The token contains a payment reference and an expiry date. Nothing else.
What Stripe holds
Payments are processed by Stripe, which receives your payment details and email address directly. We never see or store your card number. When you restore access on a new device, we ask Stripe whether the email you enter completed a purchase — that lookup is the only time your email passes through our server, and it is not written down.
Stripe is an independent company and its own privacy policy governs what it does with that information.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical information needed to serve a page — IP address, browser type, which page was requested. We do not combine it with anything, and we cannot connect it to your use of the app, because we hold nothing to connect it to.
Analytics, tracking and advertising
- No advertising, ever. We do not sell or share anything.
- No third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
- No session recording, no heatmaps, no cross-site tracking.
If we later add analytics, it will measure pages and funnel steps only — never anything about you or your baby — and this page will say so before it goes live.
We do not run a mailing list. Our free guide is a web page you can read without giving us an address. Stripe sends your purchase receipt. If we add an optional email list later, it will be opt-in, say exactly what it sends, and unsubscribe in one click.
The honest limitation
Keeping your data on your device protects it. It does not make it permanent.
Clearing your browser history or site data can delete it. Reinstalling or resetting your phone can delete it. A new device starts empty. Private browsing may not save it at all. Browsers can also evict stored data when a device runs low on space.
That is the real trade-off, and we would rather you hear it from us. The product includes Export and Import so you can keep your own backup and move to a new device, and Delete all data if you want it gone. We will never tell you your data cannot be lost.
Your choices
Because your data is on your device, you do not have to ask us to access or delete it — you already control all of it. Export it any time. Delete it any time, immediately and completely, with no copy on a server for you to chase.
For your purchase record, you can contact support@firstyearfiguredout.com and we will help you with whatever Stripe holds, including requesting its deletion where the law allows it. Note that payment processors are generally required to retain transaction records for tax and anti-fraud purposes.
Children
This product is for parents, not children, and is not directed at anyone under 13. You may record information about your baby — that information stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
What we do not claim
We are not HIPAA compliant, and we do not claim to be. HIPAA applies to healthcare providers and their business associates, and we are neither. We have not been certified or audited by anyone. What we have done is design the product so there is very little about you to protect in the first place. See also our medical disclaimer.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date at the top and say what changed. We will not start collecting your baby’s data quietly.
